emergency accommodation selection complete…

After 9 hours of musing and countless days of schedule crunching, the selection is now complete.

Though still subject to change, the current list of participating artists is:

The full schedule will be published here from Monday 26 September, but look out for teasers before that!

Due to the nature of the buildings, many of the pieces will be very limited capacity, first come first served and the programme will fall into 3 sessions

Session 1 - 12-3 pm - durationals, one-on-ones, limited capacity and some larger capacity sit-down performances

Session 2 - 3.30-6.30pm - durationals, one-on-ones, durationals, one-on-ones, limited capacity and some larger capacity sit-down performances

Session 3 - 7-9pm - sit-down performances and a possilbe (weather dependent) finale!

emergency accommodation reading and selection now underway…

After a brief, Edinburgh-centric hiatus, the reading and selection process for emergency accommodation is now underway - which means we’ve got some phonebook size piles of paper to wade through!

For all those who submitted can we just remind you to hold Saturday 17 September free in your diaries for technical meetings in case you are selected. The selection meeting is Saturday 3 September - we will be in touch with everyone as soon as possible after that to let them know.

Failing a citywide zombie attack, emergency accommodation BLANKSPACE open evening tomorrow is business as usual!

Just a quick note to say that the open evening at BLANKSPACE (Thursday 11 August 1730-1930) is, for now, going ahead as planned… If the city is over-run by ‘late night shoppers’ again tonight we may think differently, but for now it’s still on.

If you’re planning on coming down, especially if you’re travelling, please keep your eye on the news and the transport situation - and check back on this site. We’ll update if there are any changes.

SeedFund

A scheme, co-produced with greenroom enabling emergent artists to develop a small piece of work in a supportive environment, shown in parallel with a more established Performance Space piece.SeedFund artists to date have included: Karen McLeod, Gemma Neep, Trace Theatre and Ehsan Gill. 2011 will see the largest crop of SeedFund to date including new offerings from Chris Fitzsimmons, Martin O’Brien and Nicola Singh, Sian Williams, Darren White, Mary Eddowes and Matt&Nate.

Method Lab

Method Lab is a long running project, co-produced with greenroom, offering a series of small commissions, space, support, mentoring and a showcase to a number of artists selected from emergency.Amongst the artists who have participated over the years are: Qasim Riza Shaheen, Juliet Ellis, Ben Faulks (Johnothan Pram), Angel Club North, Until Thursday, Sam Rose, Nic Green, Annette Foster, Krissi Musiol, Chris Fitzsimmons and Leentje van de Cruys.Look out for the 2011 showcase featuring Levantes Dance Theatre and Kings of England.

Turn

Started in 2009, Turn aims to offer opportunities to North West based dancers and dancemakers.Co-produced with greenroom and Dance Initiative Greater Manchester Turn is now in its third year and has already shown some 50 extraordinary pieces of new dance work, resulting in two Turn Prizes to the GEF House Experiment and Joseph Lau, a further greenroom commission to Pavlos Kountouriotis, and a regional Turn Out tour of pieces by 8eyes, Maelstrom Dance and Resonance Dance.
